Hands On Approach

Dear parents,

Students are working hard in Room 201. We are learning about math through a hands on approach. In kindergarten students are using cubes to help measure (in non standard units). First graders students are exploring with shapes as we being our unit on Geometry. Second graders are leaning about tens and ones through manipulatives as well. Students are given a few minutes to play or explore the manipulatives and then students use them in our math lesson. Students are required to answer the question, as well as explain how they arrived at that answer. Explaining the answer is a higher ordered thinking skill. This is one way the Academy challenges your child every day.

Respectfully,

Rachel Sibick
