Dear parents,
Carys provided a wonderful science experiment to the class. She brought in lima beans and distributed them to each student. She identified the parts of a lima bean; seed cover, food, and baby plant. Students located the baby plant with a magnifying glass. Carys also sent a science experiment to be completed at home. Students have the opportunity to test if a lima bean will live without air, water, food, or sunlight. The students already made their predictions about what the lima bean will need to survive. I look forward to hearing what happens to their lima bean experiments at home.
Respectfully,
Rachel Sibick
I'm so impressed with the interest and motivation of your class!
ReplyDeleteI’m retired now but taught for many years. In my combined first and second grades, we also did experiments with Lima Beans, but with another approach.
Please see my blog for experiments with Lima Beans that I did for years. Children really loved these experiments.
